Welcome to 1st Shelton Lock
Scout & Guide Group
Welcome to the 1st Shelton Lock Scout and Guides group.
The Group was formed on the 1st. June 2018 by the amalgamation of the 1st Allenton Rainbows; Brownies & Guides with the Beavers & Cubs of the 91st Derby to form the 1st Shelton Lock Scout & Guide Group. Working together is nothing new, there has been close co-operation between the Sections and Units for over 50 years.

Although each Section and Unit follow the programmes of their own parent organisation, they share equipment, special events and headquarters, to ensure that the Young People of Shelton Lock and the surrounding area can continue to enjoy Scouting and Guiding.

We change lives by offering 5 to 14 year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and skills for life.
Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.

More information

Back in 1962, a group of Parents and volunteers banded together to provide a meeting place for the Scouts and Guides. They funded and built the Headquarters, known by all as the ‘The Hut’, which is situated on land to the rear of St. Edmund’s church on Sinfin Avenue.

They formed a committee which worked to maintain ‘The Hut’ and make improvements when and where necessary and successive committees have continued this valuable work. ‘The Hut’ continues to be an excellent facility and fits the needs of the Group and today’s Young People.

When the 1st. Shelton Lock Scout & Guide Group was formed this committee became The Group Executive Committee. This group of dedicated volunteers continue to support the Group and are determined that provision for Young People to enjoy adventure, fun and friendship will continue in the Shelton Lock area.
