After nearly 40 years of serving local communities with the Derbyshire Christmas card delivery scheme, the Stamp and Deliver Committee had decided that 2020 year would be the last year that the scheme would operate.

This was due to a decrease in cards being sent and that some areas were struggling to find volunteers to sort & deliver the cards.

Sadly, given the current Covid 19 pandemic and the restrictions applied to scouting and guiding groups,  the decision was made to cancel this year’s Stamp & Deliver Scheme, bringing the  scheme to an end sooner than planned.

This decision has not been taken lightly, as we the money raised by the Scheme is the life-blood of the many groups involved.

Over the course of the scheme’s operation, local charities have benefitted with over £145,000 being donated to their causes, in addition to supporting thousands of young people across the Derby and District area, through the participating groups.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us at 1st Shelton Lock over the years, a special thanks to the shops and hairdressers in Chellaston who have been instrumental in our stamp sales.  Our band of volunteers sorting and delivering cards, some people came back year after year to sort & deliver cards even after their children had left the scouting or guiding groups we couldn’t have done it without you all THANK YOU!

Kind regards
