Congratulations to Shelton Brownie Leader Clare Baker who received the Chief Commissioner award on Sunday.
Having recently had a young brownie join the group with type 1 diabetes, Clare took it on herself to attend a days training at Derby Royal Hospital so she fully understood the condition, how to check blood sugar levels and administer the girls insulin.
Clare has helped the girl and her parents feel reassured, settle into brownies and slowly the brownie is gaining Independence to manage her condition.
